"Relationship" is a word that can be loosely defined. For example, there are "friend" relationships that are strictly platonic, "casual" relationships that usually means "hooking up" at the convenience of one or both of the people involved, and the "committed" relationship, meaning two people agree they only want to be with each other. The latter requires more work than the others because the happiness of both people is what makes the relationship work.
"Committed" relationship seekers want to find that special person to confide in, share special moments, and hold them when the world feels like it is caving in. Having that person you know will always have your back and do their best to put and keep a smile on your face is an unexplainable positive feeling.
Finding a committed compatible mate can be difficult for some, especially those who set unrealistic expectations, so they end up settling for a different type of relationship. Many fail to realize accepting a mate means compromise for both lifestyles and an open mind to difference of opinions. A committed relationship cannot be built off of one aspect of a person’s life, but on every facet of that person.
Regardless, of what type of relationship a person has, it's important to be honest, not only with the partner, but oneself as well. Honesty ensures both parties know what "relationship" they are in.
